Wire puzzles are the cheapest way into mechanical puzzling and the easiest to get wrong, because the difficulty spread is enormous and the packaging rarely admits it. This shelf is ordered. Start at the top, and each puzzle teaches a move the next one assumes, the topology-first thinking we describe in wire puzzles and topology.

This is where note-taking or photos stop being cheating and start being method, per techniques for the stuck solver.

Buy this when the previous four have stopped fighting back. It is the boss level of the starter shelf.

It also makes a good difficulty ladder for a younger solver, in the spirit of our advice in teaching brain teasers to kids.
